Dear Kingston Community,

We are beginning an initiative to assist members of the community that cannot take care of general household maintenance themselves. This includes the elderly, people with disabilities, people with financial hardship, divorced or widowed women, or any other reason that prevents them from being able to maintain their house themselves. Here are the details:

• This is for minor repairs and maintenance only. This is not for home renovations. If this is something the man of the house or your handy brother-in-law would do, then it qualifies. If this is something that you would call a contractor for, then call a contractor.

• This is for non-emergency work. If it is an emergency, call a contractor, or Chaverim at (570) 995-1470 if applicable.

• This service is free. You may offer money to the service provider, but if he refuses it, do not insist. Any members working on the back end are strictly prohibited from accepting any type of compensation.

• To avoid misuse or abuse, a reference is mandatory. This is a well-known member of the community who knows your situation. This can be the Rabbi of your Shul, an Askan, etc.

The process is as follows:

• Fill out this form. If we have any questions, we will contact you. It will not be immediate.

• All submissions will be reviewed. Any questions will be addressed to Rabbi Gedalia Oberlander, Motti Hershkop and/or Levi Ehrentrei. If your request is not eligible, you will be notified.

• The requests will be sent to all volunteers. Volunteers will contact you to schedule the services. You may be contacted by multiple volunteers.

• Since this a volunteer service, no guarantee is made for prompt service, or even for service at all. Volunteers get to choose whether to accept a service request.

• Ezras Kingston and its members, volunteers and anyone associated with Ezras Kingston, takes no responsibility in any manner for any damages other than physical gross negligence.

• Misuse, abuse, offensive speech and behavior will not be tolerated and will automatically disqualify the offender from using Ezras Kingston’s services. If you have a complaint against a volunteer, please email ezraskingston@gmail.com.

• Any dispute, legal or otherwise, will be arbitrated by Rabbi Gedalia Oberlander.
